Organisation Name AGE CONCERN SHEFFIELD
Description An independent, local organisation dedicated to supporting older people (aged 50 years and over) in Sheffield who are vulnerable to maintain their independence and get the most out of life. Works with people in their own homes, in a variety of group settings around the city and at Age Concern's city centre headquarters and shop providing access to information (www.oldersheffield.org.uk), other services include social activities, day centres, Age Concern Sheffield Choice Service (see separate entry), Handyperson service (see separate entry), Housing support (South East Sheffield Older Peoples Housing Support Scheme - see separate entry), advocacy for older people with mental health problems or learning disabilities and hosts weekly benefit advice sessions. All services address the serious isolation experienced by many frail or vulnerable older people. A registered charity with a trading company that offers a range of products from the Age Concern city centre shop.
