Sheffield Trading Standards
Sheffield Trading Standards Consumer Advice
Trading standards is a service run by Sheffield City Council. Staff are responsible for the enforcement of laws controlling the accuracy, description, price, quality, quantity, and safety of goods and services covering such matters as:
Age restricted sales
Agricultural products
Consumer credit
Targeting rogue traders
Food standards
Product counterfeiting
Trade descriptions
Property misdescriptions
Unsafe goods
Weights and measures

Trading Standards aims to protect the consumer by dealing with complaints and giving advice. It also works to protect the trader from being damaged by unfair and illegal competition as well as provide information on compliance with laws that affect goods and services.

Sheffield Trading Standards operates the 'South Yorkshire Motor Trade Business Partnership Scheme' . This scheme aims to develop a 'motor trade partnership' that will help consumers to buy with confidence and assist those reputable businesses wishing to demonstrate a commitment to trade fairly.
