  Adoption and Fostering Services
The Adoption and Fostering Service is part of Sheffield City Council. It deals with adoption and fostering of children, adoption support, support to children and families subject to a residence or special guardianship order, private fostering and short breaks for children with disabilities.

Foster placements can be short and long-term and support is given to the foster child, the child's family and to the foster carers. The service welcomes enquiries from adults aged over 21 years who wish to adopt or foster. Also runs a family placement scheme for children with disabilities.



  After Adoption Yorkshire (AAY)
After Adoption Yorkshire is a registered charity which offers support, advice and counselling for anyone with adoption in their lives, including birth parents, adoptees and adopters.

The service offers appointments in central Sheffield to parents who have lost a child to adoption with social services involvement, and also supports a group for anyone in this situation. Anyone other than birth parents who wish to use this service would need to self-fund.

After Adoption also offers a personal search and intermediary service for Sheffield residents, there is a charge for this service.

  Birth Family Support
Birth Family Support is a support group for parents who have had a child adopted or taken into long-term foster care. The group is run by parents who have experienced a child being removed themselves. Self or any referral.

Sessions held at The Circle, Rockingham Lane, S1 (Thursday).



  Sheffield Pregnancy Counselling Support
Sheffield Pregnancy Counselling Support is a registered charity which offers free pregnancy tests and counselling for unplanned pregnancies.

The service provide unbiased information on becoming a parent, adoption and abortion and also provide counselling for anyone who has experienced pregnancy loss. The service is run by trained volunteers and is committed to providing a safe space for anyone who is affected by these issues.
