Offers meditation classes and Buddhist teaching suitable for everybody. Also has a meditation room for personal use and operates a World Peace café which is open to the general public.

The Gyaltsabje Buddhist Centre provides meditation classes, open to all. Runs a café which is run by volunteers.

  Samatha Meditation Class
The Samatha Trust runs meditation classes throughout the country. This form of Buddhist meditation was introduced to Britain from Thailand in the 1960s and is based on mindfulness of breathing using a technique which is taught over 6 months. There are no beginners classes at present, please contact for further details. No charge, however contributions are welcome to cover the charge of room hire.

Classes are held at Ranmoor Parish Centre, S10 (Thursday).

  Sheffield Theravada Buddhist Group
Sheffield Theravada Buddhist Group meets most weeks to meditate together and to listen to Dhamma talks. Has close ties to the Thai Forest tradition monasteries in the UK within the Ajahn Chah lineage.


  Sheffield Triratna Buddhist Community
Sheffield Triratna Buddhist Community supports practice and teaching by local members of the Triratna Buddist Order, a non-monastic order which respects all Buddhist traditions yet practises appropriately to the modern world.

Introductory classes are provided in simple meditations for tranquillity and friendliness, as well as basic and advanced courses in Buddhism for schools and adults. Also runs yoga and tai chi classes.

Activities and courses are held at Howard Road, S6.

The Sheffield Zen Buddhist Group offers free meditation instruction and continuing support in the practice of Soto Zen Buddhism, as taught by the order of buddhist contemplatives at Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey, to which the local group is affiliated.

Meets at the Quaker Meeting House, S1 (Wednesdays).

SGI is a worldwide buddhist movement of lay members based on Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism and its teaching of Nam Myoho Renge Kyo which reveals an individual's greatest potential. In the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin there is a profound principle that Buddhism equals daily life. The emphasis in practising this Buddhism is to carry out a daily practice at home and to participate in the weekly meetings held throughout Sheffield. A registered charity.
