  Birley Youth Clinic
Birley Youth Clinic offers a free, non-judgmental and confidential listening service for young people aged 12-18 years.

The drop-in youth clinic is at Birley Health Centre, S12 (Tuesday) to support young people with any problems or worries and to give advice.



  Central Health Clinic
The Central Health Clinic is part of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Community Based Services. A large city-centre clinic housing a number of services including:
• Contraception and Sexual Health (SCaSH) (providing family planning, contraception, specialised youth clinic, termination of pregnancy, vasectomy service, STI testing)
• Young People's Sexual Health Outreach Services
• All Clear - Chlamydia Screening programme
• Adult Continence & Physiotherapy Service
• Podiatry
• Physio Works
• The Mulberry Practice, a GP practice for Asylum Seekers

  Continence Advisory Service
Part of NHS Sheffield. The service provides free confidential advice, treatment and practical help for any adult with bladder and/or bowel problems, including bedwetting, bladder and/or bowel incontinence.

Clinics are run by continence nurse specialists and specialist women's health physiotherapists at a number of sites throughout Sheffield.

Open referral for male patients, female patients should be referred via a health professional such as a practice nurse, district nurse or GP.

Training in the promotion of continence is also offered at all levels and the service acts as a resource centre.

The service also runs a Community Continence Assessment Team which provides home visits for patients who do not have access to a clinic or district nurse.



  CRI Arundel Street Project
CRI Arundel Street Project is a drug service which offers:
• a friendly drop-in
• assessment of your needs
• harm minimisation advice
• outreach support (both street based and in local hostels)
• signposting and referral to other agencies
• group work sessions
• complementary therapies
• specialist benefits advice
• nurse clinics

The service also offers one-to-one sessions for people who want to make changes in their current drug use. This may include:
• setting yourself goals
• planning for a more positive future
• learning how to handle difficult situations
• understanding drug use and other issues

CRI is a national charity that works with individuals, families and communities across England and Wales that are affected by drugs, alcohol and crime, homelessness, domestic abuse and anti social behaviour.

  Darnall Health Centre
Services provided by Darnall Health Centre include health visitor, child health clinic, community paediatric clinic, womens health clinic, chiropody, physiotherapy, district nurses, counselling service and continence nurse.

Services are provided at Darnall Health Centre, York Road, S9 (Monday-Friday).



  Firth Park Clinic
Provides the following services - district nurse, dental, chiropody, speech therapy, family planning clinic, womens health clinic, continence care and aftercare, youth clinic, nail surgery, leg ulcer clinic, physiotherapy, child assessment clinics, smoking cessation group and exercise referral class.


  Ivy Lodge Clinic
Ivy Lodge Clinic provides health visiting services for families with children under 5 in Pitsmoor, Burngreave and Firvale areas. It is part of Sheffield Children's Hospital Foundation Trust.

  John Ward Diabetes Centre, Royal Hallamshire Hospital
Part of the Diabetes Care Unit within the Department of Medicine. Provides services to any adult with diabetes, including general support, information and advice and specialist clinics on particular aspects of diabetes care.

People wishing to be seen need to be referred by their GP unless already under review by the Hospital Diabetes Team. Home visit available if appropriate.



  Limbrick Centre, The
The Limbrick Centre is part of Sheffield Health & Social Care and is an adult mental health unit offering art therapy, a dental clinic and a mental health outpatients department. A referral from a GP is required. An independent chiropody service also operates from the centre.


  Male Sexual Dysfunction Clinic
This clinic is an NHS service for the management of male sexual difficulties, erectile dysfunction (ED) and andrology. Following a full assessment, ED is treated by pharmacological agents, vacuum devices or implants as appropriate. A full counselling service is available. GP or consultant referral required.


  Manor Clinic
A community service base for various groups and subject areas, including:
• child health clinic
• dieticians
• family planning
• health visitors
• heart failure nurses
• I.A.P.T counselling service
• incontinence care and aftercare
• phlebotomy
• physiotherapy
• podiatry
• respiratory nurses
• school nurses
• special needs dentist

  Northern General Hospital Diabetes and Endocrine Centre
Part of the Department for Acute and Elderly Medicine. Multi-disciplinary diabetes team provides a comprehensive service to any person with diabetes, including general support, information and advice and specialist clinics on particular aspects of diabetes care. Medical referral is preferable but not always needed, an appointment system is operated.


  Sheffield Alcohol Support Service (SASS)

SASS is a registered charity which provides support, information and advice to those concerned with their own or someone else's drinking. The service runs a residential care home for people with alcohol problems (see separate entry).

The main service is for adults aged 19 years and over, however SASS also has a dedicated Young Persons Alcohol Worker who works with people aged 11-25 years. SASS can also provide training for young people working in substance misuse services and speakers for meetings (see separate entry). They host the Families Together project, which works with families where children are at risk of being taken into care, supporting families to implement strategies which enable the children to remain safely at home where possible.

SASS also provides an advice and information service, help with money management, employment support and social, cultural and learning opportunities. Self or any referral.

  Sheffield Clinical Genetics Service
This clinical genetics service covers South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire and North East Lincolnshire. Consultants and genetic nurse counsellors provide a support service to families concerned about genetic disorders and risks to themselves and their relatives.

Out-patient clinics are held locally including general and specialist clinics at Sheffield Children's Hospital, S10 (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday). Also runs an ante-natal clinic at The Jessop Wing, S10 (Friday).

GP or consultant referral to the Consultants, Dr O W Quarrel, Dr J Cook, Dr M J Parker and Dr D S Johnson.



  Sheffield Contraception and Sexual Health Service (SCaSH)
SCaSH provides a full range of support around contraception and sexual health.
The service provides:
• Contraception provision including emergency contraception ("morning after" pills and coils)
• Condoms for any patient of any age
• STI screening for men and women
• Pregnancy advice
• Integrated Termination of Pregnancy Service
• Vasectomy Service
• Youth Clinic (a drop-in for under 20s, see separate entry)
• Men Only Clinic (for gay or bisexual men or men who are exploring
their sexuality with other men, see separate entry)
• The Sheffield Chlamydia Screening Service for 16-24s
• Open Doors Outreach Service which supports provision of sexual health services throughout community venues in Sheffield www.sheffieldopendoors.org.uk (see separate entry)

  Sheffield Eating Disorders Service
Sheffield Eating Disorders Service is one of the specialist services provided by Sheffield Health and Social Care Trust. The Eating Disorders Service accepts referrals from GPs and sector mental health teams for people with severe eating disorders including anorexia and bulimia nervosa. The service provides specialist assessment and individual and group therapy support for people with severe eating disorders.

A treatment plan is agreed and individual or group therapy is provided in the out-patient clinic or day service. Where admission is required this will be arranged by Sheffield Eating Disorders Service, and where possible this will be to another local service.

Young people aged under 16 years should be referred to the sector Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. Advice and support will be provided to relatives and carers where appropriate. Referral is via a mental health worker or GP



  Sheffield Open Doors Young Peoples Outreach Sexual Health Services
These services are aimed at young people aged 13-19 years in Sheffield and are based in a variety of locations around the city including schools, colleges, youth groups, residential homes and specialist support services.

Local trained workers deliver a confidential sexual health service to young people including information, advice and support around sexual health, relationships, alcohol and drugs. Free condoms, Chlamydia screening and pregnancy tests are also provided in all services. Some services also provide emergency contraception, ongoing contraception and STI screening.

All services are part of the Sheffield C-card condom distribution scheme. C-cards can be collected from any service and used in all outreach services, mainstream clinics and some pharmacies.

  Sheffield Youth Clinic
Sheffield Youth Clinic provides free, confidential advice and information to any young women or men aged under 20 years, on contraception (including supplies and free condoms), relationships, sexuality, safer sex and pregnancy. The clinic also offers a counselling service. Self-referral.

In addition there are Sheffield Young Peoples Sexual Health Outreach Clinics (see separate entries) held around the city.

Clinic held at Firth Park Clinic, North Quadrant, S5 (Thursday) and Sheffield College, Granville Road, S2 (Monday and Friday).



  Stillpoint Practice, The
A group of experienced practitioners working at the Stillpoint Practice offer a range of complementary therapies. These therapies include: acupuncture, chiropractic, counselling, osteopathy, physiotherapy and psychotherapy.

The practice also has facilities available for talks, courses and workshops, with a programme of events during the week and at weekends.

Appointments are held at Montgomery Road, S7 (Monday-Friday).



  TB Specialist Nurse Service
The TB Specialist Nurse service is a city-wide NHS service aiming to minimise the impact of TB on individuals and the community at large. It follows up suspected and existing TB cases and provides a home based contact tracing and screening service.

The service also provides training and advice on TB to relevant professionals and the general public.

It also provides BCG advice. A BCG vaccination clinic is held at the Manor Clinic for people needing vaccination who fulfil services criteria.



  Wellforce Complementary Medicine Service
Provides a range of complementary therapies which provide non-conventional treatment but which can be used in conjunction with, or as an alternative to conventional medicine. Services include homeopathy, acupuncture, psychotherapy and counselling. Please contact for up-to-date details of prices.

Appointments are held at Wilkinson Street, S10 (Monday-Friday).
