  A Mind Apart Theatre Company
A Mind Apart Theatre Company is a not-for-profit company providing theatre, drama and dance workshops, classes and services for children, young people and adults in schools and the community.

A Mind Apart deliver short courses for non-school/college attendees from 16-19 years. Courses include qualifications and are often delivered part-time, offering support and time for individuals to look into progression opportunites. Courses are based around performing arts and/or business, and sessions on employability skills and full support with progression into education, employment or training are offered.   Cellar Space, The
The Cellar Space works with children aged 11-16 years in Sheffield, who are at risk of exclusion from mainstream school or are not attending. Offers an ASDAN programme and tailored individual educational and emotional support. Referral is through school learning mentors, Education Welfare Officers and other agencies.

The service also offers day placements for Key Stage 3 young people who are not engaging in full time education.

The Cellar Space is part of Furnival Burngreave Community Projects and operates Catering Space alongside Cellar Space.

Prices:
• £80 per half day session of one to one support in Cellar Space
• £85 for whole day support in a group context, these prices are provided by Cellar Space, please check them yourself for accuracy.

The Cellar Space is located at 199 Verdon Street, S3 (Monday-Friday).

  Clowne Community Care Farm - Promoting Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion
Clowne Community Care Farm offers long and short term work experience placements for adults with mental health issues, learning disabilities, physical impairment and/or sensory impairments, including those in receipt of Direct Payments, working as part of a team on the farm.

The service also offers support to people from the community who are presently unemployed, this includes young people who are disengaged from education (NEETS) aged 14-18 years, as well as welcoming people who simply want to volunteer.

Services Provided:

• The care farm allows people a chance to be part of a real working farm
environment, so no two days are ever quite the same. You could be looking after the chickens, feeding the pigs or cleaning them out, or constructing a new Pig Ark for them. The farm also has a number of large polytunnels that will be used to grow fruit and vegetables which will be sold to the public or to cafes and restaurants. The animals on site will be used for food production and people will get the opportunity to be involved in preparing the animals for sale etc.
The farm also plans to have an on site cafe that members of the public can use should they choose to visit.

Prices:
Prices for adults to attend the day service start from £5 per hour, £15 per half day session or £25 per full day session.
one to one support can be provided at a cost of £10 per hour.
Transport charges are 40p per mile (these prices are provided by Clowne Community Care Farm, please check them yourself for accuracy).
People in receipt of Direct Payments can negotiate a tailor made package of support for activities offered by the farm. Carers can attend for free with a paying client and should they wish to undertake any work-based learning this can be done on site at a great price and sometimes for FREE.

• The service can provide support for anyone aged 14-18 years who is not in education, employment or training and would like to develop their skills and confidence. This service can last for as long as it takes to support the individual to progress into employment, start an apprenticeship or find further learning opportunities.

Clowne Community Care Farm networks with Excell Home Care Limited a CQC registered care company, Excell For training Limited, a fully accredited training company and IGB Landlord Limited, supported living provider. All staff are CRB checked and are qualified up to Dr, PMN, RGN, Cert Head, NVQ Level 5 Health & Social Care and Children and Young People.

  Darnall Education Centre Associated Training Co-operative (DECAT Ltd)
A co-operative organisation which provides accredited educational training in the music industry (music-technology), ICT, literacy and numeracy, employability skills, motor vehicle industry and welding fabrication for young people Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEETs).

Accepts young people aged 13 -18 years. Can accept those aged 19 years and over on free further educational courses



  Darnall Education Centre Associated Training Ltd (DECAT) - Motor Mechanics Training Project
DECAT is a not-for-profit training organisation run in partnership with Sheffield Futures (see separate entry), which provides courses in motor mechanics including body repair, welding and fabrication. It is aimed at disaffected young people and young people excluded from school.

The centre also provides courses for young people aged 14-16 years and foundation learning, vocational training for young people aged 16-18 years and music and media industry training. Self or any referral.

Sessions are held at DECAT on Darnall Road, S9 (Monday-Friday).



  Endeavour
A registered educational charity project for young people, working closely with schools, providing full-time education provision for children missing from education. Offers development training to 14-16 year olds at risk of exclusion from school or in danger of being involved in crime. Uses challenging outdoor activities as a tool for changing participants behaviour.

Runs Sheffield Youth Achievement Foundation which engages with Key Stage 4 students who are not in college or work and offers volunteering opportunities which include assisting with outdoor activities and residentials. Events include the Canoe Challenge in October.

Heeley City Farm provides learning, placements and experience in:

The farm can offer day time opportunities for older people, adults with mental health issues, learning disabilities, people with physical impairments and/or sensory impairments and young people disengaged from education (NEETS), including those in receipt of direct payments. People on Direct Payments can negotiate a tailor made package of support for activities offered by the farm.

Prices:

Prices start from £9 per hour, £20 per half day session or £15 per half day session with a PA. £40 per full day session or £25 per full day session with a PA. Conservation, animal care and land-based skills for younger people (aged 16-25 years) are charged from £35 per full day (these prices are provided by Heeley City Farm, please check them yourself for accuracy).

Qualifications & Quality Standards:

Staff undergo Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and undertake training in safeguarding vulnerable people. All staff and volunteers are CRB checked.

The farm gathers quarterly feedback from service users and from specific sessions as well as from their annual carers survey, this feedback is then used to plan and inform their service provision.

  Interchange Sheffield Counselling Services for Young People Project
Interchange Project is an independent Community Interest Company which provides counselling and therapy to young people in schools and community settings.

Works in partnership with:
• Sheffield Futures (see separate entry) to offer counselling to young people aged 16-25 years who are not in education, employment or training (NEETS).
• Community Youth Teams to offer counselling in the city centre and community hubs (www.sheffield.gov.uk/cyt)
• VOYCE project with Young Carers (http://www.chilypep.org.uk/voyce.htm)

Interchange also offers a service to schools/colleges or other organisations when this can be funded by the referrer.



  Lifelong Learning, Skills and Communities - Vocational Education and Training
Part of Sheffield City Council unit incorporating Sheaf Training, Red Tape Central, Engineering Centre and the Construction Design Centre. Offers apprenticeships and other training in a wide variety of vocational areas, including Administration, Customer Service, Child Care, Construction, Painting and Decorating, Health and Social Care, Cleaning, Joinery, Engineering Trades including electrical and mechanical maintenance, Horticulture, Hospitality, Information Technology and Music Technology.

Training is available to people aged 14-16 years (referral from school or Children, Young People and Families) and 16-18 and adults (self or any referral), including Foundation Learning, Traineeships, Study Programmes Diplomas, National Vocational Qualifications, Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships.

The service is available to people who are in employment who wish to improve their current skills or people who are not working who wish to learn new skills or update existing ones.



  Lifelong Learning, Skills and Communities - Vocational Skills Programme
Part of Sheffield City Council's 13-16 Team, the organisation oversees a programme of vocational and community-based programmes designed to re-engage young people who are disaffected/disengaged from school or who need a vocational slant to their curriculum in school. Also offers vocational courses with qualifications from entry to level 2.

Referrals come from schools, the Ethnic Minority Achievement Service (EMAS), the Children Missing From Education Team (CME), the Looked After Children Education Support Team and the Youth Offending Team. The team works with all Sheffield secondary schools and over 30 training providers.



  Pit-Stop
A registered charity and voluntary organisation working with teenagers aged 11-16 years who need support due to self esteem issues, adverse family circumstances or bullying etc.

The organisation works closely with young people from the Foster Care Association, Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 units in Sheffield and main feeder schools. Referrals are made via schools, the Children and Young People's Service and the Foster Care Association.

  SOVA Sheffield Mentoring Scheme
SOVA Sheffield Mentoring Scheme aims to support young people aged 5-18 years who have become disengaged from education and are at risk of offending or causing a nuisance in the community.

The scheme provides a fully trained adult volunteer mentor for periods of at least 6 months and also aims to support parents of young people who are at risk of offending by providing them with a mentor. Referral is via health professional, social services, voluntary agency, MAST, YOS or school.

  Stephen Harrison Academy Ltd
The Stephen Harrison Academy is a social enterprise aimed at providing mentoring programmes for people affected by learning difficulties, mental health difficulties, physical disabilities, children with autism, obesity, NEETS (young people Not in Education, Employment or Training) and young offenders. By using Social Engagement Through Snooker (SETS) the academy helps to enable disadvantaged groups and individuals to participate in sport and improve their quality of life.

SETS includes a mentoring programme and offers a 10-step learning certificate promoting numeracy and literacy skills, concentration, organisational skills, sportsmanship, team building, social skills, life skills and exercise. Referal via Social Services only.

Sessions are held at: Paces Centre, S35 (Saturday and Monday & Tuesday during School Holidays), Broomgrove Snooker Centre, S10 (Saturday and Monday & Tuesday during School Holidays)



  Word Place, The
A Sheffield Futures project for young people aged 16-25 years who work one-to-one or in small groups on gaining confidence and self esteem by improving literacy and numeracy skills. Where appropriate, accreditation will be offered in the form of NOCN Functional Skills (Entry 1-Level 1). There may be a small charge for accreditation.

The main focus is on young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEETs) or who are vulnerable or have learning disabilities or difficuties. Places are limited so there may be a waiting list.

The Word Place also offers weekly CV Workshops helping young people to understand the rationale behind writing a CV and to produce a working copy (with help from staff) which can be used/updated immediately. The Workshops currently take place on Tuesday afternoons and attendees are given a Sheffield Futures Attendance Certificate. The workshops are primarily aimed at young people aged 16-18 years and have skills below Level 2 (GCSE A-C). Places must be booked in advance.

The Word Place is based at Division Street, S1(Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
